College Entrance Exams ~ SAT, ACT
Students considering college should be making plans to take either the ACT and / or SAT tests during the spring of their junior year. Most colleges will accept results from either test, but it is important to check the websites of any college you're interested in to be sure you know which test is required, and whether the college requires the Writing portion of the ACT. Students may choose to take both exams in preparation for college applications. Highly competitive private colleges may require the SAT I and some may even require the SAT II Subject Tests.
Most students begin taking the tests as juniors to allow time to improve scores on future attempts. Taking the test a second time often allows students to improve their scores. Seniors should definitely take the test by December to have scores at colleges in time for acceptance deadlines and financial aid consideration. Senior year can be very busy with college applications, so it is highly recommended to take one or more tests during the junior year.

There is a fee for registering for each exam. If this fee presents a financial hardship for your family, please stop in to get a fee waiver form from Mrs. Rousell in the Guidance Office.
If students require special testing accommodations, they must notify the Guidance Office well in advance of the test registration.
